1. Introduction

Meet this new fantastic area for Kayak fishing in Mozambique. We offer this new Resort

to all the new and experienced hands in this relatively new sport of Kayak fishing. 

We call Calanga the birthplace of Kayak fishing in the southern part of Africa. Our local community was cut-off from the modern world for many years due to the inaccessibility to the Calanga area. They depended on this traditional way of fishing to survive in this unspoiled and untamed piece of Africa.     

2. What do we offer 

·      Beginners 

We have Kayak’s to rent and you can get an experienced local guide to first accommodate you on a learning course on our fresh-water lake, situated +/- 5 km’s from the Resort. This is very imported for you to get used to the kayak and to familiarize yourselves with the balancing of the kayak and our local ways and conditions. Our special 3 – day Kayak training package (R 500-00 p/p) for beginners which includes a Kayak and local quide as follows :       

DAY 1 : A 3 hour guided learning expedition at our fresh water lake to get a person        use to the Kayak and various other learning activities such as turn-over’s etc.

DAY 2 : If a person is not yet completely familiarized with the Kayak, day 2 will be shared between the lake and practicing the launch and the return. If the guide feels that a client is ready for the sea, a 1 hour fishing session can be arranged for day 2.

DAY 3 : If a person is ready for the sea and a fantastic fishing adventure, a 3 – 4  hour fishing session will be on the agenda for day 3. Please note that this activity of Kayak fishing, only if the weather permits.

For the modern Kayak fishermen we offer a unique

experience to join the locals and enjoy this unspoiled,

natural fishing opportunity. They are very experienced

and this is a perfect opportunity to utilize their local

knowledge of the good fishing spots and also the local

conditions.

·      Groups & Tournements 

This is an excellent location for groups of Kayak fishing  friends.  Accommodation to fit the pockets of all our visitors, from the Resort, to tented camps and also regular campsites. We also plan to have our first tournament towards the end of 2009.

Notes 

·      Please note that we charge an additional R 200-00 for first time visitors. This is for collection of the visitors at Manhica, the closest town to the Resort. Our pick-up point at Manhica is at a restaurant called Laurentina in the centre of the town as you enter on the right hand side.

·      Solar & Wind power available at the Resort, together with 4 hours of generator power per day. This power is enough for basic use at the Resort but if additional power is required by the guests, the generator can be run at a cost of R 25-00 per hour.

·      No power available at the tented camp and camping sites. A small generator available to rent at a cost of R 100-00 for 5 hours per day.

·      Please note that no Restaurant or Bar facilities are currently available at Calanga. We are in process of building and the plan is to have the Boating Club completed by December 2009.

·      If a customer needs something from town, management will do their best to assist due to the fact that they travel to town frequently. If a customer or group of visitors wishes to travel around, please discuss the different options and prices with management, guided trips can be arranged.

·      Guided one night sleep-over in the bush (Braai and very basic breakfast included) – R 200-00 p.p.p.n. This is a must for any kid, so please mom and dad discuss this option with management.

·      Our favorite activity is a learning course in Kayak fishing in the sea. This is a three day package at R 500-00 per person which includes the following:

+  Day 1: A 3 hour guided learning expedition at our fresh water lake to get a person use to the Kayak and various other learning activities;

+  Day 2 : If a person is not completely familiarized with the Kayak another day will be spend at the lake or either practice the launch and return.

+  Day 3 : Guided Kayak Fishing adventure.  Please note that this activity only if the weather permits.
